Jane Cavalier
Founder and CEO

Jane Cavalier is one of the country’s leading brand consultants and has worked on over 100 branding/re-branding projects across her career. Her early years were spent on Madison Avenue where she cut her teeth on Proctoer & Gamble, co-founded one of America’s hottest creative boutiques and led strategic planning worldwide at McCann Erickson where she also launched a global brand consultancy called The 14th Floor. Cavalier left Madison Avenue in 2001 to form BrightMark in order to create powerful brands independent of advertising campaigns.

For 25 years, Jane has worked with CEOs and their teams to crystalize the future they want to create and the brand to enable it.  As BrightMark’s Chief Brand Ecologist, Jane partners with visionary leaders who seek growth with purpose, creativity, and humanity. She has led over two dozen large-scale re-branding initiatives for organizations including ExxonMobil Worldwide, Samsung, U.S. Navy NAVAIR, and Boston Children’s Hospital. She has helped brands including Citibank, American Express, Sotheby’s, iRobot and AT&T craft brand advantages in new markets, and brands like Johnson & Johnson protect their brand equity. She is recognized for creating industry-changing renegade brands including Snapple (Made from the Best Stuff on Earth) and Qwest (Ride the Light) and for helping non-profits like the John Templeton Foundation (Stay Curious) and Pardee RAND Graduate School (Be the Answer) build powerful brand identities.

Jane’s passion for branding stems from her experience at the intersection of business, social change and the arts. Cavalier and her four siblings grew up in the world of art. After studying economics at Union College, she continued business studies at NYU and Columbia University while pursuing her advertising career at Doyle Dane Bernbach and Saatchi & Saatchi. After building creative boutique Buckley DeCerchio Cavalier into what the New York Times called “one of America’s most creative advertising agencies,” she went on to run strategic planning as an EVP at McCann Erickson Worldwide where she conceived and built The 14th Floor as McCann’s brand consultancy.

Jane is the author of The Enchanted Brand (Indie Books Int’l. 2022) which is available on Amazon (link), Barnes & Noble, Apple books and Audible (learn more).  She has taught branding as an adjunct professor at the Yale School of Management and NYU Stern School of Business. She was twice recognized by the annual Crain’s 40 under 40 list. She currently sits on the boards of Marpai Inc. (NASDAQ), Nemours Children’s Health System, Pardee RAND Graduate School and American Composers Orchestra. Married to her high school sweetheart, Jane has three grown children and resides in Westport, CT.
